Challenge Events

Take on our challenge events in 2023 and raise funds for Nugent whilst making memories of once-in-a-lifetime experiences!

We have put together a range of challenge events that offers something for everyone no matter your fitness level or experience. Whether you are seeking high-flying thrills or lighthearted rivalry, there are plenty of fundraising challenges that you could get involved in with friends or colleagues.

To take part in any of our challenge events, please contact the fundraising team at fundraising@wearenugent.org who can advise you on the next steps and guide you through setting up a Local Giving account to start fundraising.

Please note: all of our challenge events have registration fees and minimum fundraising targets that differ between events. The registration fees can either be paid by the participant or deducted from the total amount raised – this is subject to the amount raised.

Sahara Desert Trek

Join Nugent on an epic 100km challenge across the Sahara Desert! Departing on 12 November 2023, you will embark on the most amazing 7-day adventure, trekking through stunning desert landscapes by day and camping under the stars at night.

Location: Starting and finishing in Marrakech, Morrocco

Dates: 12th – 18th November 2023

Costs: The total cost of the trip is £1795 and there are two ways to fund your journey, you can self-fund or have minimum sponsorship. Both options include a minimum fundraising target of £1000.

Abseil – Liverpool Cathedral

Experience the thrill of abseiling off one of the UK’s most amazing buildings, the iconic Liverpool Cathedral. Descending 150ft, you will free-hang from above the great West Door. Some people will face their fears and others will revel in the excitement.  

Location: St James Mount, Liverpool L1 7AZ   

Dates: Saturday 8th July, 15th July and 22nd July 2023   

Costs: the registration fee is £75pp 

Minimum fundraising target: £150

Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool Bike Ride

The 30th anniversary of the annual Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride will offer you the opportunity to discover stunning landscapes across Liverpool, The Wirral, and Chester through 6 different cycling route options. A thrilling, non-competitive bike ride experience that caters for all ages and abilities and covers a range of distances from 5 miles for beginners, to 100 miles for the serious cyclists amongst us.    

Location: Queensway Mersey Tunnel, Victoria St, Old Haymarket, Liverpool L1 6ER   

Dates: Sunday 2nd July 2023   

Costs: registration fees range between £10 – £31.50 

Minimum fundraising target: £150


Mersey Tunnel 10k

The Mersey Tunnel 10K takes runners on a journey of just over 3K before exiting on the Wirral side of the river and making your way along the Dock Road and the Seacombe Ferry terminal at the half-way point. The second half of the race will take you along the promenade overlooking the river Mersey showing off the impressive Liverpool skyline at its best. The race finishes on Ian Fraser Walk at New Brighton.   

Location: Blackstock Street just off Vauxhall Road, L3 6EP   

Dates: Sunday 16th April 2023   

Costs: registration fees range between £27.00-£29.00 

Minimum fundraising target: £150

Challenge events - Kate Skydive 2022
Kate skydiving for Nugent in 2022

Skydive

Experience the thrill of a lifetime with our freefall tandem skydives. One of the most popular ways to experience skydiving for the first time, reaching heights ranging from 7,000 to 15,000ft. A tandem skydive involves you being connected to a British Skydiving qualified instructor through the use of a harness. 

Location: Black Knights Skydiving Centre, Hillam Lane, Cockerham Lancashire, LA2 0DY   

Dates: Runs all year round    

Costs: registration fees range from £150.00 - £224.00 (depending on height) 

Minimum fundraising target: £500


Snowdon at Night

Beginning in Llanberis, Snowdonia National Park, this spectacular challenge will see you and fellow fundraisers trekking to the top of Snowdonia….at night! You will be fully supported all the way by experienced Mountain Leaders and then celebrate at the finish line with a victorious brunch. 

Location: Llanberis, Snowdonia National Park   

Dates: 3rd June – 4th June, 26th August – 27th August or 14th October – 15th October 2023   

Costs: registration fee is £209.00

Minimum fundraising target: £500

Tough Mudder

Tough Mudder is a series of obstacle and mud runs that will push your physical and mental limits without pressure or competition. A community built on teamwork and overcoming obstacles, where stepping outside your comfort zone is the reward.   

Location: Cholmondeley Castle, Malpas, Cheshire, SY14 8AH   

Dates: Saturday 9th September and Sunday 10th September 2023   

Costs: registration fees range from £79.00 – £99.00 (dependent on distance and time slot) 

Minimum fundraising target: £200


Wing Walk

Feel like you’re flying with this one-of-a-kind, exhilarating experience which is perfect for adrenaline junkies looking to take on a really unique challenge.   

Location: Leeds East Airport, Church Fenton in Leeds   

Dates: Leeds location runs: Multiple dates from April – October 2023   

Costs: registration fee is £299pp 

Minimum fundraising target: £599

Please note that you must be under 85kg, able to climb up the aircraft to the top wing where the riz is fixed (about 10 ft), and be 18 years old or above (if older than 65 you will require a doctor’s signature confirming your fitness to participate in this experience).
