Closing the Digital Divide

Can you help Nugent tackle the digital divide affecting Children and Young People across Merseyside?

Around 9% of children in the UK – between 1.1 million and 1.8 million – do not have access to a laptop, desktop or tablet at home.
In Liverpool, Council figures suggest that at least 6,373 children and young people do not have access to a digital device at home. We suspect the figure is much larger!
Many disadvantaged children are tasked with picking up all of their learning from home as part of coronavirus social distancing measures, and are unable to access the same online learning resources as children whose parents have access to IT, this gap is surely only set to grow further.

We desperately need your support to ensure no child gets left behind. There are a number of ways you can get involved:
  • Donate data packages particularly sim cards, portable hotspots and dongles.
  • Donate new devices particularly laptops, Chromebooks and iPads.
  • Make a financial donation to enable the purchase of digital kit bundles.
  • Donate used devices which will be wiped and repurposed for children and young people.
  • Donate used smart phones that we can wipe and resell to fund our charitable endeavours where the need is greatest.
