Nugent Young Heroes

Welcome and thank you for taking on the challenge to become one of our Nugent Young Heroes!

This is an exciting time for Nugent, as this year we celebrate 140 years of helping local people of all ages. It takes many Nugent Young Heroes to make this happen and we need your help to continue the work started by our founder in 1881.

By being a Nugent Young Hero just for one day, you can have a positive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable in our local communities.

Nugent Good Shepherd Appeal

The Good Shepherd Appeal is one of our oldest appeals, dating back to 1902, and generations of schoolchildren have continued to support us by taking part. Over the last 10 years, the appeal has raised over £500,000 to support our work.

This appeal takes place during Lent, traditionally a time for giving, fasting and praying; a time when we think of others and use our gifts and talents to help those most in need. Jesus was called the Good Shepherd because he called himself the good shepherd in the Gospel of John in The Bible.

School’s Out for Summer

You can still have fun fundraising for us during the summer break from school.

You can fundraise with your family, friends, neighbours or a local group or club that you belong to or are a member of.

When the sun is shining, what better way to cool down than with ice cream. Why not set up a Summer sundae bar or organise the ultimate ice-cream sundae competition?

Launching July 2021!

Nugent Million Pennies Appeal

An Appeal older than our Good Shepherd Appeal takes its inspiration from our founder, Father James Nugent who, in 1854, arranged a meeting of leading citizens and churchmen in Liverpool Town Hall.

His rallying cry was, ‘save the boy.’ His concern was the plight of the thousands of homeless children who survived in squalor only by begging or stealing.

Launching September 2021!

Advent in Action

Christmas is a time for giving.

The run-up to Christmas known as Advent is when we focus our thoughts on others and what we can do during this time of preparation for the big day in December to help others. During Advent, we fundraise to make Christmas special for the people we support.

Launching November 2021!
