Each mum and baby has their own fully furnished bedroom, in our bespoke mother and baby unit, which can provide up to four placements. Each Mum will share the communal areas including lounge, kitchen, bottle making and baby bathing facilities. All baby items will be provided whilst in Clumber including cot, moses basket, car seat, bedding, high chair and toys.
The unit is staffed 24 hours including waking night staff. Staff support each mum in developing skills to care for their child. Each young mum has an allocated, experienced key worker.
Staff attend/accompany the young person to LAC, planning and professional meetings and any health appointments. Staff also work in partnership with external agencies if appropriate.
Inclusive within the placement cost, is Key Worker feedback on the progression of the placement from a therapeutic and supportive perspective.
Our placements offer 2 levels of formal parenting assessment:
- Social Work qualified assessment aligned to the framework
for assessing children and families in need
- Social Work qualified PAMS assessment
Our social work assessors work with the placement to ensure that any concerns are fed back to key workers to be addressed in key sessions so we are constantly working towards a clear and well tested outcome. Staff will work in partnership with the social worker completing the assessment.
This will allow staff to feedback to the social worker assessor on the young person’s progress. The social worker will also be able to identify any areas which the young person needs to develop and this can be addressed with staff support.
Social work led assessments are costed as an addition to the mother and baby placement.
