From April 1st 2020, Nugent Care 2019 Ltd has become the sole corporate trustee of Nugent in place of the former personal appointment of individual trustees. All trustees who were in their personal capacity appointed previously have joined the company as Trustee/Directors.

Trustee
Canon M Fitzsimons is Parish Priest at the Parish of St. Wilfrid’s, Widnes.
He has worked in previous roles as a volunteer, worker, senior manager, and board member in a variety of organisations in the voluntary and statutory sectors for over 20 years. He has specific experience of working with people who are homeless, youth and community development work, addictions, mental health and in prisons.

John-Paul has an extensive legal background specialising in Private Client work, which includes working with clients in the community and applications to the Court of Protection.
As the Chair of Trustees John Paul takes the following roles;
Vice Chair
Sarah is an experienced public sector leader with over 20 years of service in the NHS. Sarah has held various roles throughout her career including Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Commissioning across the health sector.
Sarah’s working passion is based around people, partnerships and collaboration. Her experience of bringing people and strategies together has seen many new ventures across health and social care succeed.
Sarah has in-depth experience of board-level governance and business development her leadership skills have enabled her to build strong teams and become a great listener with a high degree of self-awareness.
Sarah also volunteers for a small Mental Health charity and has served as a school governor for the past 10 years.
Sarah believes that it is people that make positive change happen and create opportunities for others and it is this reason why Sarah is looking forward to working with Nugent to help shape an organisation that serves the most vulnerable in society.
Treasurer
A Chartered Accountant with over 25 years’ experience gained initially in practice as part of a Big Four firm, and then in housing and private industry at director level for the past 10 years. Sue now works as an Interim Finance Director building on her experience working with executive teams leading change projects as well as being responsible for operational finance departments.
Trustee
Will is a person we have supported within our adoption service and has substantial experience of IT management, policy development, strategic planning and delivery.
He has over 20 years’ experience leading the delivery of IT within the aviation and defence sector in the UK and overseas, particularly in the Middle East. He is currently the Operations Director with Virtue Technologies, delivering fit for purpose IT solutions into schools and colleges. Focused on delivering a range of traditional and cloud-based IT services and infrastructure.
Trustee
Jonathan is a pharmacist with over ten years’ experience of working in the NHS and Higher Education which involved dealing with patient with a wide variety of physical, social and mental health needs, including addiction services. Currently, he is leading an inter-professional education programme at a UK University, and involved in the redesign of the undergraduate curriculum for pharmacy students. He has worked in a voluntary capacity with the Archdiocese of Liverpool for many years caring for young, elderly and vulnerable patient groups, and strongly advocate that they have more of a say in today’s society.
Trustee
Alan has had a distinguished business career in Merchant Banking and Commerce and has been Treasurer and Trustee at UMIST and the Manchester Grammar School.
He has held a number of non-executive positions. Since 1999, he has focussed on using his varied experience to mentor leaders which have included supporting the Arts and the Charity Sectors. He is delighted to be able to offer support to Nugent.
Trustee
Jonny is a senior finance leader with over 10 years of experience. He joined The Very Group in October 2019 and is currently a member of the Operations Executive Team, leading the commercial finance team for Operations. Previously Chief of Staff to the CFO and a member of the Finance Group Leadership Team, responsible for leading the 150-colleague strong finance function and working with the Finance Directors to deliver the Annual Plan.
Jonny has a wealth of financial services experience, through Senior Commercial Finance roles within the Financial Services business at Very and as a Senior FP&A Manager at Assurant (Fortune 500 Insurance Business).
Prior to joining Assurant, Jonny was at KPMG for 5 years, joining the School Leaver programme in 2012, working within the Investment Management Audit function and on a wealth of projects (whilst obtaining his ACA and BSc from Durham University).
Trustee, Archbishop’s Appointee
Paul Rooney is a Permanent Deacon in the Archdiocese of Liverpool. He is the Head of the Geography and Environmental Science Department at Liverpool Hope University, a Chartered Geographer and a Chartered Environmentalist with research expertise in the coastal nature conservation management.
Paul is active in several international, national and regional environmental bodies /groups. He has considerable experience of serving as a Foundation Governor for the Archdiocese of Liverpool at the Primary school level, at an ecumenical Secondary Academy and most recently as Chair of Governors in a Catholic Sixth Form College.
