800 Group Volunteer Awards celebrates volunteers across Merseyside
Volunteers from charities across Merseyside gathered for an evening of celebration at the 800 Group Volunteer Awards on the 21st of September 2022 at the Titanic Hotel, hosted by 800 Group member, Nugent.
The 800 Group is a consortium of 8 charities with a combined history spanning over 800 years of providing health and social care for children, young people and adults across the communities of Merseyside and the North West. Thank you to all charities that attended and supported the awards: Nugent, YMCA Together, Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton, Bradbury Fields, Imagine Independence, Merseyside Society for Deaf People, Rotunda, St Joseph’s Hospice, Strawberry Field, Yellow House, The Brain Charity, YKids, Kinship Carers Liverpool and The Wirral Deaf Community.
The 800 Group Volunteer Awards are a chance to recognise and celebrate the hard work and dedication of volunteers across the 8 charities. Volunteers are a crucial part of each charity; they help their charities run and function smoothly as well as make a positive impact in their local communities.
This year, a new award category has been introduced: the Volunteer of the Year Award which has been created to celebrate volunteers across the North-West, not just those within the 800 Group. This award is presented to a person from any charity in Merseyside who exemplifies the spirit of community service and has made an outstanding contribution to the community through their voluntary work.
All of the nominees for each charity as well as the Volunteer of the Year nominees were treated to an exclusive drinks reception sponsored by the Pentone Family and a three-course dinner during the evening. They celebrated with live entertainment from a local acoustic singer, Sadie Law and a spectacular show from a magician. Lord Lieutenant of Liverpool, Mark Blundell, and LFC Legend, Phil Thompson, also attended the awards to celebrate and thank the volunteers for their hard work.
“Volunteers are vital in the charity sector, and the work you all do is so appreciated. You make a real difference in our community and it is my honour to be here today to celebrate with you all. It is wonderful to see so many amazing charities from across the region represented here today, coming together to celebrate. I would like to congratulate you all for your nominations!”
Lord Lieutenant, Mark Blundell
