Interim Headteacher arrives at Nugent House School
We are pleased to announce that Andy Howard joined us on 6 September as Interim Headteacher at Nugent House School.
Andy is a highly experienced school leader, with over a decade working as a headteacher in a wide range of settings, from mainstream secondary to specialist provisions. He has also worked as a consultant in the UK and internationally, providing leadership expertise in both new school start-ups and supporting schools requiring additional leadership capacity. Andy has also worked for a number of years prior to this in senior leadership roles and has expertise in leading in both curriculum design and behaviour management systems as well as special education and safeguarding.
With over 30 years of experience in education, Andy has worked in a wide range of locations, from inner-city (London and Liverpool) through to rural settings (Somerset and Hereford), and types of school, including top-rated independent education, mainstream secondary, all-through schools and specialist provisions. He has also published articles and has given talks and lectures on various aspects of education, internationally and in the UK, including the Times Festival of Education and a TEDx talk.
Andy is passionate about supporting young people; his own life journey was completely transformed by education and individual educators and this has grown into the dedication to ensure all young people have the best access to high-quality education so that they can become the very best versions of themselves possible; he is an advocate for young people wherever he can be, with a strong belief that young people really are capable of so much if only people would believe in them.
Outside of the school environment, he likes to recover by being active and likes walking in the countryside or travelling. He also volunteers; mainly for organisations that support young people and is actively involved in the Army Cadet Force organisation, providing young people with an opportunity to experience activities they otherwise wouldn’t have access to.
Andy is engaged to work with us for two terms initially and we are excited to have him as part of our Nugent family.
