Donation Drop Off Points

As we continue our work to tackle all forms of poverty and strengthen our communities, we are asking our supporters to help by collecting donations on behalf of Nugent for three key areas – food, charity shop items, and hygiene products.

What is a drop off point?

A Drop Point is a designated area within your school, business, or office where people can conveniently donate non-perishable food items, hygiene items, or clothing.

We need your donations to help us fight food and hygiene poverty. Your drop off point can make a difference in the lives of those facing challenges caused by the cost of living crisis.

Nugent Pantry

The Nugent Pantry is open every Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm at St Anne’s Church, L7 for a weekly shop that costs just £3.50 each week.

Every week the Pantry provides fresh fruit, vegetables, cupboard favourites and hygiene products to around 50 individuals. The value of the shop often totals £15-20 or more, making it a cost-effective way to meet grocery needs. The Pantry is run by our friendly and dedicated volunteers who greet everyone with a smile and are there to help without judgement or prejudice.

The Pantry isn’t only a place to do a weekly shop, it’s a welcoming community hub with friendly faces and a listening ear. For some of our shoppers, it’s their only weekly interaction with other people, for others, it’s a chance to get involved in their local community.

Hygiene Hub

Hygiene donations are critical to meeting the needs of individuals who cannot afford essential hygiene products.

Access to basic items like soap, toothpaste, and sanitary products is vital for personal health, dignity, and well-being. Without these, individuals may face increased risks of illness, poor self-esteem, and social exclusion. Donations ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can maintain their hygiene and health, fostering a sense of dignity, inclusion, and a higher quality of life for vulnerable individuals and communities.

Why set up a donation drop point?

The latest UK Poverty Report 2025 from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation shows that for some in our society poverty levels are only deepening.

There are many groups of people who face unacceptably high levels of poverty including families with children, minority ethnic groups, disabled people, informal carers, people in workless households, social and private renters and people claiming income related benefits. Hygiene poverty is estimated to affect 4.2 million adults in the UK. By providing a donation of food or hygiene products you will be helping some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

The cost of living crisis has left many people reliant on pantries just to make ends meet. For some children living in food poverty, a free school meal could be the only guaranteed hot meal they eat in a day. That’s why we must ensure our Pantry is fully stocked to offer plenty of choice to our weekly shoppers.

Setting up a drop point can make a difference in your school, business or office

  • Foster a sense of community – Setting up a drop point creates a sense of unity among your employees, students, or customers, knowing that they are contributing to a meaningful cause and supporting their local community.
  • Team-building opportunities – Organising donation drives and events can serve as team-building activities, bringing your staff or students together for a common goal to boost morale and engagement.

How will setting up a drop point help?

  • Fight food and hygiene poverty – By establishing a drop point, you will directly contribute to the fight against food and hygiene poverty in your community. Your contributions will make a real difference in the lives of families and individuals who are struggling.
  • Build a sustainable future – By promoting food and hygiene donations and community involvement, you are contributing to the creation of a sustainable future, where food and hygiene insecurity can be reduced.
  • Dignity and well-being – access to basic hygiene products restores dignity and self-confidence, promoting better mental health and overall well-being.
  • Education and work – period poverty is a significant barrier to education and work for many individuals. By providing hygiene products, you will help to enable better attendance and productivity.
  • Health and hygiene – good hygiene is essential for preventing infections and maintaining good health. Your donations contribute to a healthier community.
  • Social inclusion – Reduced stigma around food and hygiene poverty leads to increased social inclusion and a more compassionate society.
