Menstrual Hygiene Day: Creating a #PeriodFriendlyMerseyside

Join Us in Ending Period Poverty

Nugent Pantry and Hygiene Hub

This year, on May 28th, 2024, we’re honouring Menstrual Hygiene Day by taking action against period poverty. At Nugent, we’re passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most in our communities. We believe that access to menstrual hygiene products is a fundamental right, yet for too many, it remains out of reach.

The Urgent Need

A recent survey conducted in 2023 revealed a distressing reality: 21% of women and individuals who menstruate in the UK, more than one in five, struggle to afford period products. This figure has alarmingly risen by 12% in just one year, illustrating a concerning trend. This means an estimated 2.8 million people across the country face difficulties accessing essential menstrual hygiene products. This underscores the pressing need for initiatives like our campaign to combat period poverty and ensure equitable access to these basic necessities.

Taking Action

Our campaign is vital for addressing period poverty locally, ensuring everyone has equal access to menstrual hygiene products, and promoting community health and well-being. By raising awareness, breaking stigma, and encouraging collective action, we advocate for equality, empower individuals, and highlight the significance of an inclusive and supportive society.
