The ELT are accountable for implementing decisions, and are responsible for directing and overseeing the operations of Nugent. The CEO mandates the description of their roles, responsibilities and required capabilities of their positions. Functionally, ELT work together as a team, with CEO oversight.
Chief Finance Officer
Emma Pridgeon, the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is accountable for leading and managing the critical functions of the organisation which deliver the Charity’s finance functions, to ensure that we are meeting/exceeding the expectations of our beneficiaries, staff and internal and external regulatory standards. The Chief Finance Officer continues to develop and oversee the corporate compliance program and Governance Framework. She ensures the functions of the Trustees, management, employees and volunteers are in compliance with the requirements of regulatory organisations, which of Nugent’s policies and procedures are being followed, and that behaviour in the organisation is in alignment with Nugent’s values and charitable Trust Deed.
Emma is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of post-qualification experience in the not for profit sector and within commercial settings. She has extensive experience of directing and developing a finance department and also of leading multi-disciplinary teams both within Housing and a Charity group. She has also led a wide team at a senior finance level at a Foundation Trust hospital.
She has led all aspects of general finance – delivering strategic and business commercial support, and providing financial business partnering, with proven experience of financial evaluations and presenting commercial options to stakeholders. She brings an articulate, technically strong and insightful approach, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels. This ensures a business can tell its financial story to match the audience’s requirements. She particularly enjoys the Business Partnering aspect of her role; working with others to improve financial understanding, to identify and manage financial risks, and to achieve financial and strategic goals.
Chief Operating Officer
Dr Kate Herod has been with Nugent since October 2018 and has held various leadership positions within Nugent including Head of Adult and Community Service, Head of Children’s Services and Head of Secure Children’s Services. Dr Herod’s leadership at Marydale Secure Children’s Unit has achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating by Ofsted, making Marydale the only secure children’s unit in the country to have this rating.
