Nugent’s Opening Doors brings some Christmas Cheer
Nugent’s Opening Doors service delivered hampers across the Knowsley Borough during the Christmas period to the most isolated people and those who are least likely to receive a gift during the festive period.
All of the people supported by Opening Doors were delighted and couldn’t thank us enough for our thoughtful surprises.
One lady was astonished and tearful when she opened the door “I thought only good deeds happened to people on T.V around Christmas time, especially not people like me. I wish I could thank each individual personally who donated their items as I am so grateful for their generosity.”
Opening Doors arranged for 5 of their lonely and isolated individuals to attend Christmas day lunch at the Titanic Hotel (arranged by White Christmas) all free of charge and Nugent covered the cost of the transport to and from the venue.
All 5 had a spectacular and wonderful day, enjoying a delicious Christmas lunch including a starter, main meal and a desert along with live entertainment. On their departure they were given the choice of accepting a Christmas food parcel to take home with them.
“I am very grateful for Opening Doors organising for me to go out on Christmas Day. I usually spend Christmas day on my own but this year I had something to look forward to”.
If you would like to help older isolated people get involved in their community again please get in touch with us. We are working with Knowlsey Council in the area and the volunteer commitment is for 12 weeks.
