There’s no food in the house, no clean clothes and no toys.
Sadly, that’s the reality for some children living in our communities, who simply don’t have the basics that we just take for granted.
Whether it’s a family living hand to mouth, struggling to pay the rent, a homeless mother and child fleeing domestic abuse, or a young person,
struggling with life until they find a sanctuary and safe place with us.
Across the last 139 years, Nugent has been that vital safety net, supporting children and young people, living in poverty, crisis or just struggling with life, to restore their sense of dignity and purpose.

Our Good Shepherd Appeal is one of the oldest charity appeals in the UK. With its origins in Victorian Britain, and built around children helping
children, the appeal has helped support thousands of families in our region, for over 110 years.
Here in 2020, we continue to provide support and care where local government funding and austerity is impacting most and creating hardship.
The Good Shepherd Appeal has just as much relevance today, helping children and young people in our local communities, right where it’s needed most.
Whether it’s finding a child a ‘forever family’ through our adoption service, making our children feel safe and happy in our nurturing school and children’s homes, providing food, toys, hampers and white goods for families in crisis, we will continue to work tirelessly to deliver the best services for the children and adults who seek our support.
