Lime House Facebook group brings together families during lockdown

In the past year, our services have had to navigate and overcome a number of unforeseen obstacles caused by the ongoing pandemic. The restrictions placed on visitors to our care homes has been particularly difficult.

Video calls and window visits have been the only way for families and friends to see their loved ones since the beginning of the pandemic, with some families unable to visit at all due to travel restrictions during lockdowns.

To make these challenging circumstances a little easier, Lime House Care Home decided to set up a Facebook group to keep families and friends of the people we care for updated with photos, videos and good news stories. Our Activity & Wellbeing Co-ordinators at our care home moderate the Facebook group, which has been a fundamental part to making it the success it has been. They provide frequent updates for families to have the much-needed reassurance that their loved ones are happy and well during this worrying time.

Below you can see just a few examples of the fantastic feedback we have received from family members on how the group has helped since it was set up in October:

“Since the page for Lime House started the stress associated with lockdown, covid and separation has been incredibly reduced. Dramatically so. Being able to see our loved ones with smiles on their faces engaged in multiple activities has been a life-safer.”

“Thankfully this page has enabled us to see my grandma during lockdown when otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to. So a great big thank you Mandy, you’re absolutely amazing”

“Thank you so much to all the team at Lime House for making my mum and all the residents happy. The pictures and videos we have all been watching have been a tremendous help during these past months. You can see how happy and cared for everyone is.”

“The Lime House Facebook group has been a great benefit during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the whole family, including my mum’s brother and sister, who both live over 150 miles away, were able to join the group, access the posts and see my mum is safe and well.”

With almost 100 members, the Facebook group has been invaluable for the families who are really missing seeing their loved ones. Thank you to the team at Lime House for the hard work and dedication that you have put in to ensure that families have stayed connected during lockdown.
