Hygiene Hub Drop Point

Can you help us by setting up a Hygiene Hub Donation Drop Point in your office, school or business?

As we strive to combat poverty and empower our communities, we invite our supporters to join us in gathering contributions on behalf of Nugent in three vital areas such as our charity shop, Hygiene Hub and Pantry. You can read more about each area here: Donation Drop Points

Our Hygiene Hub

Our Hygiene Hub is located within our weekly Pantry which is open every Tuesday in St Anne’s Church on Overbury Street. It’s a place where individuals can receive the support they need and pick up items to help them when they are struggling. The Pantry and the Hygiene Hub are run by our friendly and dedicated volunteers who greet everyone with a smile and are there to help without judgement or prejudice.

Why set up a Donation Drop Point?

In 2022, an estimated 3,150,000 adults (6% of the population) were affected by hygiene poverty, leading to social isolation, shame, and anxiety for many. A startling statistic from ActionAid revealed that the number of UK women and people who menstruate struggling to afford period products rose from 12% to 21% in just one year, with 13% of them missing school, university, or college.

Our Hygiene Hub aims to combat this issue by providing a central location in the community where individuals can easily access hygiene products. By partnering with schools, businesses, and offices like yours, we can create a network of Donation Drop Points that make a significant difference in the lives of those facing hygiene poverty.

Here are some reasons why setting up a drop point is a great idea:

  • Make a real impact: By setting up a Donation Drop Point, you directly contribute to breaking the cycle of hygiene poverty and positively impact the lives of vulnerable individuals in your community.
  • Promote social responsibility: Demonstrating your commitment to social causes like hygiene poverty fosters a strong sense of corporate or institutional social responsibility, enhancing your reputation among customers, clients, and employees.
  • Engage your community: Setting up a Donation Drop Point creates an opportunity for your stakeholders to actively participate in a cause that matters. Engaging in such meaningful initiatives strengthens bonds within your community.
  • Raise awareness: Your participation as a Donation Drop Point helps raise awareness about hygiene poverty, encouraging others to support this cause and create a collective effort for positive change.
  • Positive PR and marketing: Becoming a part of the Hygiene Hub will be recognised and appreciated by your customers, clients, and employees. It presents an excellent public relations opportunity and can generate positive media coverage.

How your Donations help

When you set up a Donation Drop Point for the Hygiene Hub, you directly contribute to improving the lives of those affected by hygiene poverty. Your collected donations help in the following ways:

  • Dignity and well-being: Access to basic hygiene products restores dignity and self-confidence, promoting better mental health and overall well-being.
  • Education and work: Period poverty is a significant barrier to education and work for many individuals. By providing hygiene products, you enable better attendance and productivity.
  • Health and hygiene: Proper hygiene is essential for preventing infections and maintaining good health. Your donations contribute to a healthier community.
  • Social inclusion: Reduced stigma around hygiene poverty leads to increased social inclusion and a more compassionate society.
