New Beginnings

New Beginnings Dispersed Housing Scheme

How does the scheme work

Nugent is working in partnership with Liverpool Mutual Homes to offer dispersed accommodation for 26 individuals who are homeless/risk of homelessness and have support needs.

  • Criteria and referrals to the scheme are based on:
  • You being 18 years and over – single person
  • Having no access to settled accommodation
  • Having support needs
  • Being able to live independently with weekly support.

Referrals including self-referrals and agency referrals to the service are completed via Liverpool’s Mainstay matching system.

Aims, Objectives & Outcome

To provide good quality temporary accommodation and create an environment that enables individuals to develop their skills to manage their own future independent tenancies.

Nugent works in partnership with Liverpool Mutual Homes, YMCA and Liverpool City Council to offer a safe and secure setting where individuals gain independence and control over their lives.

To move individuals, with increased independent living skills into appropriate accommodation, for example, general needs housing association or private sector tenancies.

The service is flexible enough to respond rapidly to the changing need of the service and the people it supports.

When individuals are ready to move on they can be referred on for support as and when appropriate to resettle independently in their own accommodation.

Assessment

All applicants are assessed via a Mainstay Assessment Centre and interviewed by project staff at Nugent prior to acceptance of a tenancy.

Support services

Each individual is provided with a worker to help formulate and implement an individual support package to assist with both resettlement and move-on.

Both the Support Plan and Risk Plan are reviewed on a regular basis which is responsive to the individual.

The service is dedicated to ensuring that the people we support have respect, dignity, independence, choice and control over their lives.

The service is committed to diversity and anti-discriminatory practice.
