Supporting families in our communities
For 124 years, generations of schoolchildren from all over the archdiocese have continued to support Nugent through Good Shepherd, raising millions of pounds and helping thousands of children and young people by taking part.
This amazing support helps us to continue to provide support and care where local government funding and austerity is impacting most and creating hardship. The Good Shepherd appeal has more relevance than ever in helping children and young people in our local communities, right where it’s needed most.
This year’s Good Shepherd Appeal helps children and young people understand that every person is our neighbour, whether across the playground, street or across the world, and that loving our neighbour means acting with kindness, generosity, and justice.
It connects faith to action through:
- acts of kindness
- learning grounded in Catholic Social Teaching
- fundraising to support vulnerable people locally through Nugent
How schools can get involved
We invite all schools across the archdiocese to take part in this wonderful tradition by organising fundraising events in support of Nugent’s vital work. Schools that sign up will receive a fundraising pack and teachers information pack.

The Good Shepherd Appeal is a powerful way for our schools across the Archdiocese to make a meaningful impact. By coming together to Love the Neighbour, we can continue providing care and support where it is needed most.
