What is Our Future Now?
Our Future Now is the community-focused, charitable arm of Nugent, created to tackle inequality and provide practical support in our region. It was created to provide support whenever and wherever it’s most needed.
As a part of our work, we have designed two new grant programmes to support individuals and families to bring hope, dignity, opportunity and practical support to people across our region.
Helping Hand Fund

What the Helping Hand Fund can support
The Helping Hand Fund provides urgent, practical support for families facing sudden hardship, helping them cope with unexpected situations that threaten their stability and wellbeing. Whether a family is struggling to afford essential food, cover emergency bills, or secure basic household items, our Helping
Hand Fund helps ease the pressure and restore a sense of security. By responding quickly and compassionately at moments of greatest need, our Helping Hand Fund helps individuals and families regain control, protect their dignity, and focus on getting back on their feet.
Maximum grant: £350 for an individual / £500 for a family. If you are successful you cannot apply for another grant for 2 years from our schemes.

A new initiative supporting individuals and families the Thrive Fund is designed for individuals and families who are not in immediate crisis but who need a supportive boost as they look ahead to the next stage of their lives. It provides practical, empowering assistance that helps people plan, progress, and build stronger foundations for their future. Whether someone is preparing for a new home, returning to work, or taking steps toward greater independence, we can offer the resources needed to move forward with confidence. This fund is about growth, opportunity, and giving people the chance to thrive, not just manage.
All applications must be submitted via a referring professional, such as a school, clergy, health worker, or statutory agency.
